The University of Florence has announced additional elections for student representatives within degree programs, including DSTS. Election will be on March 18-19, 2026 (further instructions below).
For DSTS there are two available positions, and new delegate(s) will join the current students' delegates Gaia Benedetta Pellegrini and Silvia Satta. I'm pleased to inform you that your colleague ASIA AMORFINI made herself available to be elected and serve as a student delegate.
In any case, additional candidacies are admitted. No formal actions is required, students just need to offer their availability to be elected.
Why should you run for candidacy? Student representation in the degree program's governing bodies allows for every voice to be heard and is crucial in ensuring a transparent and high-quality academic environment. Student representatives act as spokespeople for the interests and concerns of students within the degree program. They can collect feedback, suggestions, and concerns from students and present them to the decision-making bodies of the program. Student representatives can monitor academic decisions and policies to ensure they are fair and balanced, contributing to an improved university experience for all.
Furthermore, active student participation in the governance of the degree program promotes involvement in the academic institution, increasing the sense of belonging and responsibility within the student community. It provides a unique perspective on issues related to teaching, curriculum, resources, and academic life in general.
Who is entitled for candidacy? I would like to remind you that all students who are up to date with their tuition payments and are enrolled in either the first or second year (but not beyond the first year outside the standard duration) are eligible to run for these positions. However, it is advisable for students who are not too close to graduation to consider candidacy. Additionally, since most of the documents are in Italian, it is preferable to have a certain level of proficiency in the Italian language.
The Director of the DSTS master program is available for further information.
