Methods of data collection & related concepts (sampling, coverage, non-response).
Main survey techniques (face-to-face, telephone, on-line survey). Characteristics of the questionnaire and methods for its construction.
Statistic tools for descriptive data analysis (frequency tables, position and variability measures).
Basic concepts of text analysis. Basic techniques (co-occurrences, cluster analysis, link analysis) and graphical representations (wordclouds, crosstabulations, proximity plots)
Chapters from the International Handbook of Survey Methodology, by Leeuw, Hox, Dillman; other lectures and material. The teaching material will be available on Moodle.
Obiettivi Formativi
To be able to develop a sample survey and to implement a questionnaire for data collection. To be able to provide a synthetic description of data through qualitative and quantitative analyses, by correctly interpreting the studied phenomena.

Due to the Covid-19 emergency, the exam will consist in:
- a test using multiple choice questions on Moodle
- an oral exam (for those who pass the online test)
